Wyoming Cowboys versus Texas Longhorns Football

Wyoming Road Trip Vacation

September 12, 2009 will play host to one of the biggest football games ever played in the State of Wyoming. The implications of the game may not exceed the excitement and anticipation of the game, that is for sure. The University of Wyoming Cowboys will play host to the University of Texas Longhorns in a college football matchup. Texas, ranked second in the preseason polls, will be led by Heisman Trophy finalist and hopeful Colt McCoy. The University of Wyoming will begin a new era, as the game will be the second game coached by new head coach Dave Christensen.

This road trip is what the rest of the state is going to be doing on September 12th, so why not join in. At 1:30pm, War Memorial Stadium will play host to the game, which will be a sell out so do not plan on picking up tickets on game day - the UW ticket office reported on July 23 that there were only 150 season tickets remaining for the game. In addition, every hotel in Laramie is booked to capacity for the weekend, so keep that in mind as you make your way to Laramie.

Pre game tailgaiting will be allowed in some of the parking lots near the stadium. In addition, Tailgate Park located on the southwest side of the stadium, will as usual be the offical tailgate party, with vendors, cheerleaders, and a band. Regarding tailgating and parking:

  • All Cowboy Joe Club permitted lots will open at 8 am on game day for tailgating activities, including grilling. Be mindful that your tailgate must be contained to your parking space only.
  • Lots AA Reserved, IPF, H, Stadium Reserved, X and Brown are open container permissible lots from 8 am on game days through the start of the 3rd quarter of each game. The D lot is not open container permissible.
  • RV parking is available, but you must have an RV specific parking permit to park an RV, bus or extended trailer in the IPF, Stadium or Brown lots. Please contact the Cowboy Joe Club PRIOR to gameday if you would like to request an RV pass. RV parking is accessible the Friday night before game day, beginning at 5 pm, but you must contact the Cowboy Joe Club PRIOR to Friday to reserve your overnight space.
