Places to go in Wyoming

When it comes to places to go in Wyoming there is no shortage of options. The question becomes what parts of the state you wish to visit. Wyoming is home to two national parks, two national monuments, one national historic site, twelve state parks, and twenty-one state historic sites. In addition there are a number of museums worth visiting, among the many other places off the beaten path.

The two National Parks in the state are Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. Both parks are in northwestern Wyoming. The communities of Jackson, Cody, and Dubois are located just outside of these parks. Devil's Tower National Monument is located in northeastern Wyoming, and Fossil Butte National Monument is in southwestern Wyoming. Fort Larmaie National Historic Site is located in southeastern Wyoming near Lingle. There is one national recreation area in Wyoming, Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. Finally, there are four national historic trails, the California National Historic Trail, Mormon Pioneer National Historic Trail, Oregon National Historic Trail, and the Pony Express National Historic Trail.

The twelve State Parks in Wyoming are located across the state. They offer a wide variety of activities. These activities range from camping, hiking, and biking, to motorized activities such as snowmobiling and boating. Located around the state are a number of state historic sites. These include South Pass City, Independence Rock, and the Oregon Trail Ruts - just to name a few of them.
